I have 14 years of experience with green building rating systems (since the introduction of the LEED Rating System). As a member of the inaugural class of LEED Fellows, I have been recognized as one of top practitioners among LEED Accredited Professionals. I chair the USGBC Environmental Quality Technical Advisory Group. In that capacity I was a member of the development team for both LEED versions 3 and 4. Through my long-standing involvement with USGBC, I also contributed to earlier versions of the rating system, LEED AP exam questions, and have taught licensed USGBC curriculum since 2002.
Under the umbrella of green buildings, my role can take several forms.
- Facilitator: If you are planning to launch a project with a workshop or charrette, your entire team should be active participants rather than process managers. As a skilled third-party facilitator and consensus-builder, I can organize logistics, keep the meeting on track, and lead the team toward actionable goals.
- Advisor: If you have never certified a green building, or have limited experience, I can be an on-call resource. I can walk you through the certification process and individual credit forms. I can also field questions and help with research on materials, precedents and certification strategies
- Educator: I am an outstanding public speaker. I have over 15 years of experience in sustainability education, including 11 years as USGBC Faculty. I can train and educate your staff, design teams, and/or clients on general and specific sustainability topics.
- Manager: If you want to outsource green building certification management altogether, I will take on projects where the project team agrees to be closely involved in both implementation and documentation, because in green building design, the “green” cannot be separated from the “design.”
